It might come as a surprise to know that most of the new development in the Marbella area in recent years has been focused upon what is known as the New Golden Mile – a coastal stretch that extends from Estepona east to San Pedro Alcántara in Marbella west.

Estepona’s previous status as a somewhat downmarket alternative to Marbella is therefore being challenged, and the town hall is keen to ensure that there isn’t just development, but quality property development, with an accompanying growth in luxury resort, spa, dining, nightlife and shopping options as well. That this is working very well is borne out by the fact that right now the New Golden Mile is the place that offers more variety and choice of quality modern properties for sale on the Costa del Sol.

The price ranges, property sizes, locations, orientations and views may vary, but generally we’re talking about small gated villa communities offering the latest in architectural styling and modern comforts, luxurious apartments and penthouses, and also a smaller selection of stylish modern townhouses and semi-detached villas to which are added privately built villas on individual plots. The variety of styles, amenities, budgets and homes is therefore excellent, and you can also choose from a prime beachside location at Emaré or The Edge, a golf setting or a residential environment surrounded by nature yet about five minutes from the beach.
